WY Metro — West Yorkshire

Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Halifax, Huddersfield and Keighley

Metro is the transport arm of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, coordinating bus, rail and travel information across the county. Buses are currently run commercially by operators including First, Arriva and Transdev, with Metro providing multi-operator tickets, bus stations, shelters and supported services where commercial routes do not reach.

Tickets

The MCard is the multi-operator ticket that works across all operators in West Yorkshire — usually the best value if your journeys mix companies, which is common in Leeds and Bradford. Individual operator tickets are cheaper if you stick to one company.

Change ahead

West Yorkshire has committed to franchising its bus network, following the Greater Manchester model, with services transferring in phases over the coming years. Until then, the network remains largely commercially operated.

Tracking West Yorkshire buses

Coverage is strong: all the major operators publish live positions, so the WY Metro page shows a busy realtime picture clipped to the county boundary.

Fares, ticket ranges and network arrangements change — always check the operator's or authority's own website before travelling. Live tracking coverage depends on what each operator publishes as open data.
