West of England

Bristol, Bath and the surrounding area

The West of England Combined Authority coordinates transport across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, and South Gloucestershire. Buses are run commercially, mainly by First Bristol, with the authority supporting additional routes and providing information and infrastructure.

What to expect

Bristol has some of the busiest bus corridors outside the big franchised regions, including the metrobus rapid transit routes with segregated sections and off-bus ticketing. Bath is compact and well served, with park and ride sites ringing the city.

Tickets

Operator day tickets are the norm, with multi-operator options available for journeys that mix companies. Contactless capping applies on most services.

Tracking West of England buses

Coverage is good — operators publish live positions, so the area shows a busy realtime map.

Fares, ticket ranges and network arrangements change — always check the operator's or authority's own website before travelling. Live tracking coverage depends on what each operator publishes as open data.
