Transport for Wales

Buses, trains and the TrawsCymru long-distance network

Transport for Wales is the Welsh Government's transport body, responsible for the rail network and increasingly for coordinating bus services across Wales, including the TrawsCymru network of long-distance routes linking towns that no railway serves.

TrawsCymru

The TrawsCymru routes — the T-numbered services — are the backbone of long-distance bus travel in Wales, connecting north to south and across the middle of the country where rail links are indirect or absent.

Change ahead

Wales is legislating to franchise its bus network, moving from commercial competition to a planned network specified by Transport for Wales, phased in over the coming years.

Tracking Welsh buses

Live vehicle publishing is not mandatory in Wales, so realtime coverage is patchy — some operators publish voluntarily, and cross-border services appear. Timetables, including TrawsCymru, are complete on our site.
