Nexus — Tyne and Wear

Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North and South Tyneside

Nexus is the passenger transport executive for Tyne and Wear, best known for owning and managing the Tyne and Wear Metro, and for coordinating bus information, stations and concessionary travel across the area. Buses are run mainly by Go North East, Stagecoach and Arriva.

Tickets

Network One tickets cover buses, Metro and local rail across the North East, and are usually the best value for mixed journeys. Individual operator day tickets are cheaper for single-company travel.

The Metro

The Tyne and Wear Metro is central to travel in the area, and many bus routes are planned to feed Metro stations rather than duplicate them — worth knowing when planning a journey.
