London
The biggest bus network in Europe, one fare, one red bus
Around 8,500 red buses run on more than 600 routes, all specified by Transport for London and run under contract by companies such as Arriva, Go-Ahead, Stagecoach and Metroline. Whoever operates it, the fare, the livery and the live tracking are the same.
Getting around by bus
Pay with contactless or Oyster — cash is not accepted. A single fare covers unlimited changes within an hour (the Hopper fare) and spending is capped daily. Night buses run on the main corridors, and every stop shows its route numbers and letter code.
